Ocracoke Island is in the straight way of hurricane devastation and that is why the National Hurricane Center called 5:00 a.m. Wednesday morning for residents to evacuate as winds are about to take place at a high rate and the hurricane is expected.
Residents should take precautions such as moving cars and equipment to higher ground. They should also be aware of the state ferry schedule arrangement and road situations before making any travel plans during and after the storm.
