Pinoy firms join Korean food expo

To promote Philippine trade and tourism, three Philippine companies took part in a recently concluded food expo in Seoul, South Korea.

The Philippine Embassy and the Bureau of Export Trade Promotions led the Philippines in the Korean Food Expo 2011, which ran at COEX Seoul from November 9 to 12.

A report of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the three companies that joined the expo were:

BrandExports Philippines, Inc., a consolidator of Philippine food export products
Jarla Trading, tuna exporter
Orient Foods Industries Corporation, a dried fruits exporter.

The ASEAN-Korea Center gathered 29 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) companies at the ASEAN Pavilion to introduce ASEAN food and beverage products to the Korean market.

The Food Expo provides ASEAN exhibitors with opportunities of establishing business contacts with potential Korean importers and buyers.

“The Korean Food Expo 2011 is hosted by Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. It is expected to surpass the record of last year’s event at 678 exhibitors and 93,732 visitors,” the DFA said. - VVP, GMA News
