Palace to Taylor Kitsch: 'Come on over and apologize'

MANILA, Philippines - MalacaƱang wants Canadian actor Taylor Kitsch to visit the Philippines and “apologize” for his erroneous claim that corrupt customs officer had asked for his iPhone in exchange for his entry into the country.

“It is more fun in the Philippines. So come on over and apologize,” Palace spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said on Tuesday.

Lacierda said the actor’s statement “demeaned” the country and an apology “would be a proper and decent response.”

Bureau of Customs Commissioner Rufino Biazon said the actor was in Indonesia, and not in the Philippines, when he allegedly received rough treatment from a customs officer.

On the “Late Show with David Letterman,” Kitsch alleged that an unidentified customs officer demanded that he be given an iPhone.

Biazon said his office was planning to write to Letterman and Kitsch and request an apology from them for putting the agency and the country in a bad light.
