Bradley willing to vacate title for Pacquiao rematch

MANILA, Philippines – American boxer Timothy Bradley said he is willing to vacate the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight throne if he will be given the chance to fight Manny Pacquiao again.

Bradley said in a video interview with The Desert Sun said that only a rematch will help him silence his critics.

“I would say let's do the rematch, let's put the belt vacant and let's fight for the belt. You know?” said the unbeaten boxer.

Bradley walked away with the WBO title after being handed a split-decision victory over Pacquiao on June 9.

The judges’ verdict gained notoriety as fight fans and boxing experts asserted that Pacquiao seemed the more dominant fighter of the bout.

Bradley may be willing to vacate the title, but he won’t return the belt to Pacquiao.

“Why would I do that? There hasn't been anybody in the history of boxing that ever gave up the belt. EVER! In the history of boxing,” he said.

Bradley claimed returning the belt won’t change anything, which is why he is asking for a rematch.

“I don't have to be the champion going into the fight, and let's just fight for the belt. Let's do that,” he said.
