TOKYO —A new perfume created by American pop diva Lady Gaga went on sale in Japan on Wednesday. The perfume, called Fame, debuted at Tokyu Plaza Omotesando Harajuku shopping center ahead of its global launch in September.
The launch drew about 300 costumed Lady Gaga fans, known as Little Monsters. The first fans started lining up outside the shopping complex at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Last month, Lady Gaga took to Twitter to unveil the perfume ad campaign, which features tiny men crawling all over her naked body. Fame is described as “black like the soul of fame but invisible once airborne.” It is black in the bottle but sprays clear and becomes invisible once in the air.
The perfume, which is manufactured by American company Coty Beauty Inc, comes in three bottles—a 30-mil bottle for 4,725 yen and a 50-ml bottle for is being sold for 5,985 yen and a 100-ml bottle for 9,975 yen.
