NBA: Miami Heat coach Spoelstra arrives in Manila
Despite the bad weather, Filipino-American Erik Spoelstra, coach of the NBA's Miami Heat, arrived in the country Wednesday afternoon.
Spoelstra arrived aboard a Philippine Airlines flight at 2:30 p.m. but declined interviews, radio dzBB's Mao dela Cruz reported.
His itinerary for the day reportedly included an appointment at MalacaƱang Palace. He will also be taking in Wednesday's PBA Finals game between the B-MEG Llamados and the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
The 41-year-old coach's trip to the Philippines is part of the "NBA Trophy Tour," which will see him and the Larry O' Brien championship trophy visit malls in Metro Manila.
Spoelstra is also scheduled to conduct an NBA 3X Clinic (3-on-3 basketball) at the Jose Rizal University on August 2.
Last June, the Miami Heat beat the Oklahoma City Thunder in five games for its second championship
