MANILA, Philippines – Three street vendors have been arrested for
allegedly selling sex toys and fake sex enhancement drugs in Quiapo,
Manila.
Social welfare officials of the Manila City Hall conducted a raid after receiving complaints from residents on the obscene products being sold at the stalls, which are located near the Quiapo Church and two police precincts.
Authorities confiscated the sex toys and arrested 3 suspects, 2 of whom were identified as Roselyn Molo and Jonathan Torre.
The suspects denied that they were selling the products, saying they were only asked to look after the stall.
Sex-enhancement drugs, which turned out to be counterfeit, were also seized by authorities.
The vendors said the fake drugs are being sold at P100 per 4 pills.
Social workers, meanwhile, questioned why the vendors were allowed to peddle the products in an area where most of the passersby are students.
The suspects will face charges of violating Presidential Decree 969, which prohibits the sale of obscene or immoral products. -- Report from Jeff Canoy, ABS-CBN News
