Bongbong open to putting Imelda jewels on display

MANILA, Philippines – Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said his family is not at all against the plan to display Imelda's jewels reportedly worth $20 million, including a 20-carat diamond.

"’Yun talaga ang plano ng pamilya namin, ng nanay ko, na i-display ‘yun dahil maganda. Wala, ‘di naman talaga kami tutol diyan," said Marcos.

However, Marcos was not sure about the other plan to auction Imelda's jewels.

"May mga legal implications ‘yan. Tingnan natin, pero complicated ‘yan,” he said.

Marcos celebrated his 55th birthday today, September 13, by distributing relief goods to 1,000 families of Brgy. Banga in Bulacan, who were affected by the floods.

He said he heard that many of them are still recovering from losing their homes from the floods so he decided to help.

“Mahirap na nagsasaya tapos alam naman nating mayroong mga naghihirap. Nakakatuwa na nakapunta ako dito, naging mas makabuluhan ang aking kaarawan,” said the senator.

After distributing relief goods in Bulacan, Marcos also went to Brgy. Pinagbuhatan in Pasig to give away goods to 1,000 families there also affected by the floods last August.

Marcos' birthday comes 2 days after his father, former President Ferdinand Marcos' birth anniversary last Sept. 11, while his sister Irene will be celebrating her birthday on Sept. 16.

Marcos said there was a joke about the Marcoses birthdays.

"Ang tukso dahil Ilocano, pinagsasabay sabay ng tatay ko ang birthday namin para isang handaan na lang,” he said.

Oust Enrile?

Marcos also said he personally doesn't know of any plans to oust Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile.

“Wala namang lumalapit sa akin o nagsasabi na may balak na ganun,” he said.

Marcos added that he still has confidence in Enrile.
“Parang uncle ko, malakas ang kumpiyansa ko sa kanya. Talagang maganda ang performance niya,” he said.
