Venezeluan actor Fernando Carrillo has signed as a contract artist of Viva Artists Agency, the talent management arm of the Philippine entertainment company, according to a report from the Manila Bulletin.
Popularly known for portraying Fernando Jose opposite Thalia's titular character in the Mexican telenovela "Rosalinda," originally aired on ABS-CBN in 2000, Carrillo's career in the Philippines will be managed by Viva founder Vic del Rosario and music producer Christian de Walden.
Since playing what would become his breakout role in the popular drama series, Carrillo has starred in a number of other Mexican as well as international projects including the series "Ponderosa" (2001), the action film "Pit Fighter" (2005) and the romantic film "Gone Hollywood" (2010).
Coupled with the success of "Rosalinda" internationally, especially in the Philippines, the 46-year-old actor had visited the country a number of times to interact with his fans based here.
He even recorded a single, "Ikaw," in a duet with singer Regine Velasquez at the height of the "Rosalinda" fame.
Following his contract-signing with Viva, Carrillo is expected to visit the Philippines soon to do a number of projects.
