MANILA, Philippines -- The Philippines' hopes of winning the FIBA
Asia Cup came crashing down after Smart Gilas suffered a 77-60 defeat at
the hands of Iran in the semifinals.
The Filipinos held a 17-16 lead in the first quarter before Iran started dominating the game.
With the win, the Iranians avenged its loss to Philippines in the recent Jones Cup.
Gilas will face the loser of the Japan-Qatar semifinals for 3rd place.
