The Baltimore Ravens have become synonymous with stingy NFL defenses.
Eagles RB LeSean McCoy is less than impressed heading into the Week 2 Eagles-Ravens matchup.
“I think there will be some lanes to run in,” McCoy told CSNPhilly.com after watching game film from the Ravens’ Week 1 44-13 win over Cincinnati.
He sort of has a point. Although the game got out of hand, Cincinnati’s running game was efficient. Lead back BenJarvus Green-Ellis rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.
McCoy may get the chance to back up his words on the field. He had 20 rushes for 110 yards in an opening-week 17-16 win over the Browns. Eagles QB Michael Vick threw four interceptions in that game, so there’s a chance Philadelphia coach Andy Reid opts for a more conservative game plan Sunday.
“They’re a good defense,” McCoy said. “The name ‘Baltimore Ravens defense’ has been going for a long time, and I think that (reputation) is kind of true as far as aggressive, fast, and the defense is tight.”
According to the CSNPhilly.com report, Baltimore has allowed nine 100-yard rushers since 2007.
