MANILA, Philippines – Nearly 60 male members of the Alpha Phi Omega (APO) fraternity held the symbolic Oblation Run inside the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila campus on Tuesday morning in protest of the controversial Cybercrime Law.
Wearing only bonnets to hide their identities, the runners protested the passage of the law which they described as a violation of basic freedoms, such as the freedom of speech, right to privacy, and due process of law, among others.
The law's implementation is on hold with a temporary restraining order issued by the Supreme Court.
The temporary relief was in favor of several petitions against the controversial law.
