Mister Donut to alter recipes for 1st time in 42 years
OSAKA - Duskin Co., operator of the U.S.-founded Mister Donut chain, said Tuesday it will substantially change its donut recipes to help cope with sluggish sales, marking the first such major change since 1971 when the chain opened its first outlet in Japan.
Duskin will alter its recipes for donut dough and use different oil it has originally developed to make its donuts tastier against the backdrop of increasing popularity of sweets sold at convenience stores. The company will start selling new products on April 26 while maintaining existing prices.
Duskin, whose operations range from house cleaning to restaurant management, operates Mister Donut shops in Asia, with Japan being its main market.
