HP opens new facility in Quezon City
HP on Tuesday formally opened its new global delivery center in Quezon City as part of the company's expansion efforts.
"Today we have expanded... to this new location in Quezon City so this will serve as our growth area," Nathalie Bernardo, HP's director for ITO global delivery hub for Philippines and China, said in a briefing.
"We realized the north part of Metro Manila is very important to us, [and this new facility will allow us] to tap the talent pool in Quezon City," she added.
The new facility is located in Two Cyberpod Centris. It will start commercial operations later this year.
The new global delivery center provides off-shore applications infrastructure technology and business process outsourcing services. It is HP's third in the country, following facilities located in Makati and Taguig City.
"We know how challenging it is to be faced by natural disasters so it is important to us to have a business continuity alternate site," Bernardo said.
She said there is a possibility of expanding outside Metro Manila although there are no "firm plans" at present.
Bruce Dahlgren, HP's senior vice president and general manager for enterprise services for Asia Pacific and Japan, noted the new facility highlights the firm's ongoing investment in the Philippines and in Asia.
"Our continued investment in the Philippines--this was something [we discussed] in 2010 as we met with President [Benigno] Aquino [III]... And it's exciting to see this new chapter [today]," Dahlgren said in the same briefing.
Dahlgren stressed HP's presence in the Philippines has continuously grown since its official entry in 2003.
"With 10 years of success, the increase of investments that we're making here, this new style of IT, the Philippines becomes an incredibly important asset for this company to help our customers,"he said.
Aside from its global delivery centers, HP also has product business units in the cities of Makati and Cebu.
