REDWOOD CITY, California - A 32-year-old Filipina has become one of the most controversial moms in America after she posted a photo on her Facebook page showing her fit body with her three boys around her. The words “What’s your excuse?” posted on top.
Maria Aducayen Kang said the image was supposed to inspire others to stay healthy.
But the picture has gone viral and others have taken offense to it.
"I issued a non-apology on my Facebook page because I am not a bully. I just wanted to show others that it could be done,” she pointed out.
Fitness has always been an advocacy for Maria.
Maria, who was born in San Francisco, is the daughter of Caroline Aducayen from Cagayan, and the granddaughter of retired Philippine Ambassador George Aducayen Jr.
She is a beauty titlist, winning the Mutya ng Pilpinas U.S.A. in 2003 and the Miss Petite Teen International when she was 17.
She is now married to David Casler, a mother of three, and a businesswoman.
She also owns two residential care homes for the elderly and runs a fitness non-profit organization.
As for her newfound fame, she said what’s important is that she’s able to get the word out about health and fitness.
She concluded, “Your body is all you’ve got. You have to take care of it.”
