Alicia Keys, Regine Velasquez in showstopping duet

MANILA -- The audience at the Mall of Asia Arena on Monday night roared as Filipino singer Regine Velasquez emerged on stage to join American musician Alicia Keys in a showstopping duet of "If I Ain't Got You."

Fans who trooped to the Pasay City venue were already cheering as Keys began singing the 2004 juggernaut hit, but erupted in louder screams when Velasquez, who was not initially seen even as she sang her first lines, stepped into the light.

Both music superstars took turns in singing the verses and the chorus of "If I Ain't Got You," before hugging each other at the end.

A video of the performance was uploaded on YouTube by user Kim Lee.

Later in the concert, which is part of Keys' "Set the World on Fire" tour, the singer also surprised the audience with a performance with The Black Eyed Peas' Allan "apl.de.ap" Pineda, who hails from Pampanga.

Keys, throughout the concert, also paid tribute to Filipinos who were affected by the recent super typhoon that devastated parts of Visayas.

The singer, in a post on micro-blogging site Twitter on Tuesday, later said she is grateful to have been able to visit the Philippines and spend time with some of "the most resilient and beautiful spirits she has ever met."
