Ariella Arida glows in national costume parade

MANILA, Philippines – Miss Philippines Ariella Arida was literally shining as she donned a butterfly-inspired gown at this year’s Miss Universe national costume parade.

Arida took to the runway on Monday (Manila time), wearing a glamorous gold Filipiniana gown, partnered with a grand feathery headdress.

The Laguna beauty confidently walked onstage, proving that she has what it takes to be the next Miss Universe.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Arida said she is very happy with what she wore for the parade.

“Gusto ko po 'yung gown ko. Sabi ko nga puwede siyang for competition gown din. I love it, I love the color. Ang ganda sa stage, okay dalahin very smooth sa paglalakad,” she said.

Over 80 candidates from around the world wore costumes that best represent their culture.

Meanwhile, Arida thanked Filipinos around the world who have rallied behind her in her attempt to make a history for the Philippines.

“Hello po sa inyong lahat. Sobrang saya ko kasi randam na ramdam ko 'yung suporta nila para sa akin kahit malayo ako. Ramdam na ramdam ko pa rin na parang nandiyan lang sila. Ang sarap gawin lahat ng makakaya mo,” she said.

In a post in her Instagram account, ABS-CBN News’ Dyan Castillejo, who is currently in Russia to cover the beauty pageant, said Arida has the most number of supporters at the parade compared to the other candidates.

The coronation night of this year’s Miss Universe will be held on November 10 (Manila time).

Meanwhile, Filipinos can continue voting for Arida in pageant's online poll to send her through the semifinals.
