Sharapova, Murray team up with Fil-Am in tennis event


MANILA, Philippines – Tennis superstars Maria Sharapova, Andy Murray and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will team up with Filipino-American stalwart Treat Huey in a three-day international tennis competition on November.

Sharapova, Murray, Tsonga, and Huey will join forces with Carlos Moya, Daniel Nestor and Kirsten Flipkens to make up the Manila Mavericks, who will take on the Indian Aces, the UAE Royals and the Singapore Slammers in the inaugural International Premier Tennis League (IPTL).

The Philippine leg of the IPTL will last for three days, with two matches being held for each day.

There will be five sets per match, which will be: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, mixed doubles and legend's singles.

Fans who acquire a season pass will be entitled to attend all three days, where they can attend two matches per day.

The Philippines is the first stop of the four cities in which the Manila Mavericks will continue to represent the country to win the grand title of IPTL Champions and take home the winning purse of $1 million.

The Manila Mavericks will open their campaign against UAE on November 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Mall of Asia Arena.
