Mikhail Red wins best new director in Vancouver


MANILA - Director Mikhail Red, 22, recently won the Best New Director award at the 33rd Vancouver International Film Festival in Canada for his film, "Rekorder".

Red bested young directors from Brazil, France, Iceland, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Peru, United States and Taiwan for the said award.

An entry to last year's New Breed section of the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, "Rekorder" tells the story of Maven, who shifts from being a professional cinematographer to a videographer.

It has garnered numerous awards and recognition from international festivals in France, Spain and South Korea.
