WATCH: Kobe passes MJ for 3rd on all-time NBA scoring list

MANILA, Philippines – Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant has passed NBA legend Michael Jordan for third place in the league's all-time scoring list.

Bryant drained two free throws at the 5:24 mark of the second quarter of their game against the Minnesota Timberwolves Sunday (Monday, Manila time), to put his total to 32,293 points.

Bryant entered the game eight points shy of Jordan's career total of 32,292. His two free throws also gave the Lakers a 38-32 lead.

The game was briefly stopped as players from both teams congratulated Bryant, while Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor presented him with the game ball.

Only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387) and Karl Malone (36,928) have scored more points in their NBA careers than Bryant, who entered the league in 1996 straight out of high school.
