Seahawks' Fil-Am player heads to the Super Bowl again

REDWOOD CITY - A Filipino-American athlete is back competing in the biggest sporting event of the year.

Doug Baldwin and the defending champion Seattle Seahawks will return to the Super Bowl, American football's championship game, this year.

The Seahawks overcame a 16-point deficit to beat the Green Bay Packers in overtime 28 to 22.

Baldwin managed to make a big catch in overtime that set up the winning touchdown pass.

The Seahawks will play against the New England patriots on February 1 in Arizona.

Last year, the Filipino-American wide receiver with Tacloban roots scored a touchdown in the Super Bowl.

Baldwin was praised by Filipinos when he carried the Philippine flag onto Century Link Field in November 2013 to honor the victims of super typhoon Yolanda.

Baldwin reportedly has family members living in the Philippines, including his grandmother.
