Best beaches: Boracay is 7th


MANILA, Philippines - Boracay is the seventh best beach in the world for 2015, according to travel site TripAdvisor.

The island of Boracay was cited for its calm, warm waters and gently sloping sand and relaxing feel. It was also mentioned as possibly “the most beautiful beach in Asia.”

TripAdvisor’s annual Traveler’s Choice awards for beaches were based on travelers’ reviews in terms of quantity and quality collected over 12 months.

Baia do Sancho in Brazil was named the top beach in the world with its “heavenly view that seems like a mirage.”

It was followed by Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos with its “unbelievable clear, clean water with hundreds of shades of blues and greens and white sugar sand beaches.”

The Rabbit Beach in Italy ranked third for its golden sand and crystal clear water.

Placing fourth is the Playa Paraiso Beach in Cuba, which was described as having sand like flour and a calm ocean.

The “endless sea, fine sand, spectacular views, yachts, fancy stalls, Ibiza on the horizon” placed Playa de Ses Illetes in Spain in fifth place.

Anse Lazio in Praslin Island, Seychelles and Flamenco Beach in Puerto Rico landed in the 6th and 8th spots, respectively.

Whitehaven Beach in Australia and Elafonissi Beach in Greece rounded up the list of the world’s 10 best beaches.
