LISTEN: Zayn's first solo demo after leaving One Direction

Less than a week after Zayn Malik announced his departure from UK boy band One Direction, a song featuring his vocals has been released online.

Famed producer Naughty Boy, who has worked with singers Sam Smith and Emeli Sandé, uploaded a slow, atmospheric track called "I Won't Mind" on Tuesday.

It had the caption, unedited: "let the music do the talking. there is nothing but love for what was left behind. thats why we don't mind. ;) #2016 #zaughty #zindabad."

The new track came hours after Naughty Boy, whose real name is Shahid Khan, was involved in a heated debate with Louis Tomlinson, one of the remaining four members of One Direction.

The argument was born out of a short video that Khan retweeted on his Twitter account, which claimed that "Naughty Boy saved Zaughty" --a moniker given by fans to the collaboration between him and Malik.

Tomlinson, in reply, wrote: "Wow @NaughtyBoyMusic you're so inconsiderate pal, seriously how f**king old are you ? Grow up ! #masterofallwisdom."

To which Khan said: "when ur gettin hate for some thing u didn't do, a bit of love can go a long way, that's why I retweeted, time will tell the real story guys."

Malik announced that he has decided to leave One Direction last Wednesday, explaining in a statement that he wanted to live a life of a normal 22-year-old.

The boy band, on other hand, has vowed to continue touring and is set to release a new album, saying: "The four of us will now continue. We're looking forward to recording the new album and seeing all the fans on the next stage of the world tour."
