Ramen joint Nomama to close shop

MANILA - Nomama will soon be no more.

The acclaimed restaurant best known for serving "artisanal" ramen is closing its remaining branch by the end of the month, according to Nomama founder, chef Him Uy de Baron.

In a Facebook post, the French-trained chef wrote: "It's a bittersweet experience to announce that I will be closing Nomama Capitol Commons at the end of the month.

"After the pleasure of opening my own restaurant four years ago, carving out our mark in the industry, I've come to a point where I feel I need to re group and re focus."

Baron then vowed to bring the restaurant back with "renewed vigor and a new strong partnership that will hopefully bring it to new heights."

No further details was revealed.

Nomama, which closed its original Quezon City branch last year, was included in the list of the best new restaurants of 2013 by men’s magazine Esquire.
