'Ansabe?!' Why new 'Showtime' segment trended online

MANILA - Are you wondering why "Ansabe" trended nationwide on Twitter Friday?

In its live episode that day, "It's Showtime" launched a new segment dubbed "Ansabe," where contestants guess words mouthed by Korean co-host Ryan Bang from a separate area.

The players, who can see but not hear Bang, can guess up to five words in two minutes. They are not allowed to skip words. Each correct answer corresponds to a cash prize of P1,000. The contestant with more correct guesses will win an additional P5,000.

For the segment's debut, "Banana Split" mainstay Pooh and Brazilian model-host Daiana Menezes took turns guessing words, which were divided into three sets they could pick from.

Pooh only got one word right, while Menezes won with three correct guesses.

At the end of the segment, it was announced that co-hosts Anne Curtis and Vhong Navarro will be the players for Saturday's edition, catching the two by surprise as they watched from the audience area.

Moments after "Ansabe" debuted, the term ranked among the top trends on Twitter in the Philippines, with many viewers expressing amusement with the segment's mechanics, as well as Curtis and Navarro's reactions.
