Ex-Alamid frontman dies

MANILA -- Gary Ignacio, the former vocalist of 90's rock band Alamid, passed away on Friday. He was 49 years old.

The announcement was made by photographer Benjie Cruz on Facebook, saying Ignacio died at 2:50 p.m. at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute due to multiple organ failure.

The band's hit single "Your Love" propelled them to popularity in the early 1990s. The tune was named Song of the Year at the NU107 Rock Awards in 1995.

The intro of their song "China Eyes" was also used in the ABS-CBN comedy "Palibhasa Lalake."

Aside from Ignacio, Alamid was composed of Dexter Facelo on guitars, Gene Mitra on keyboards, Thalie Facelo on bass, and Jex Herradura on drums.
