VIRAL: 'Give me the straw!' Angry Starbucks worker yells at customer

MANILA – An employee at a Starbucks branch in New York has been fired after videos of her yelling at a customer have gone viral online.

The employee, who initially claimed to be a manager at Starbucks, is seen accusing the customer, Ruby Chen, of stealing a cookie straw and asking her to leave the coffee shop in the two videos, which were uploaded last May 13.

The two clips were provided to Chen by another customer who filmed the incident.

“Now give me the straw and leave. You’re not gonna get served here. Bye!” said the employee, who demanded that someone call the cops and arrest Chen.

In the short description for the first video, Chen explained that she ordered a Frappuccino – an ice-blended beverage – and a “special straw” and was trying to open her Starbucks Rewards application on her mobile phone when the employee started yelling at her.

A report from NBC New York said the employee has been fired, citing an interview with a spokeswoman for Starbucks.

“This customer’s experience is not reflective of the service our partners provide to customers every day,” the spokeswoman was quoted as saying. “Our leadership team is reaching out to the customer to apologize and make this right.”

Aside from an apology, Starbucks also offered Chen a $100 gift card, according to the report.
