Emilia Clarke talks about role in 'Terminator Genisys'

HOLLYWOOD – Sarah Connor is back on the big screen and she’s tougher and smarter than ever.

In “Terminator Genisys,” she is played by Emilia Clarke, famous for her portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen in HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”

ABS-CBN News’ Yong Chavez was able to talk to Clarke, and the actress told her how she feels that she is very effective in portraying strong roles.

“That just fills my heart with joy if that’s really the case -- to be able to play strong women and have that effect, young girls out there, to give someone more confidence. I’m incredibly fortunate at this early in my career to be able to play these strong girls and have that have an effect on people,” she said.

Aside from Clarke, her “Game of Thrones” co-star, Lena Headey, also played Sarah Connor in a TV show.

Asked if they were able to talk about the role, Clarke said: “Yeah, we sort of touched upon it a little bit. I think we’ll talk about it more now that the movie is out. We’ll see what she has to say.”

Time travel is embedded in the fabric of the “Terminator” universe. The actress shared that if a machine can take her somewhere, it will be in Italy during the Renaissance.

“I think it would be a fabulous place to go and walk around and absorb the art and feel the importance of what was happening historically that time. I think that would be fascinating,” she said.

Apart from playing strong leaders, Clarke also has musical roots and did Broadway’s “Breakfast at Tiffany's” in 2013.

She, however, admitted she is not quite sure if she will be doing a musical soon.

“Never say never [but] I’m not quite sure. I did [enjoy my time in Broadway], I absolutely loved it,” she said.

For now, Clarke is concentrating on fighting on screen rather than singing.

Terminator Genisys” is currently playing in cinemas worldwide.
