Former world champion Brian Viloria needed just one round to put away
his out-gunned opponent, Omar Soto, in a fight card that took place in
Florentine Gardens in California.
According to a fight report on
Boxing Scene, Viloria floored Soto three times in the first round despite taking some time to shake off ring rust.
Viloria, coming off a seven-month lay-off, registered his first
knockdown after just a minute, and the referee stopped the bout at the
2:02 mark after Soto hit the canvas for the third time.
The bout was touted as a "stay busy" fight for Viloria, who may have
earned a shot at champion Roman Gonzalez for an October fight date.
