4th Impact ends 'X Factor UK' journey
The “X Factor UK” judges once again lauded 4th Impact’s performances on Saturday, but this time it seems this wasn't enough for the Filipino sisters to remain in the competition.
During the results show on Sunday (Monday in Manila), the all-Filipina girl group placed in the bottom two along with Lauren Murray after receiving the lowest number of public votes.
Singing for their survival, 4th Impact performed the Broadway classic “And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going,” while Murray did a cover of Mariah Carey’s “Vision of Love.”
The judges then rendered their final verdict with Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw sending the 4th Impact home, and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Simon Cowell picking Murray for elimination. With judges’ votes tied, the basis on who would be booted off would be the act with the lowest number of votes.
It was then revealed that 4th Impact will be leaving the show.
After the announcement, one of the Filipina sisters said: “We just want to thank the British public. The fact that we’re on this stage, this is already a prize for us. Even if we are Filipinos, you guys accepted us and welcomed us in your hearts. That’s unforgettable. Thank you so much.”
Celina collapses anew
Meanwhile, it was revealed that Celina, one of the Filipina sisters, was taken ill anew after the announcement of the results.
In an interview after the program, the girls’ mentor Fernandez-Versini said: “I was talking to her and she wasn’t engaging so I pulled her closer to ask if she was okay and she just passed out.”
Despite this, Fernandez-Versini assured the group’s supporters that Celina is doing fine now as she was immediately attended to by paramedics.
Asked how she feels about the results, Fernandez-Versini said: “I’m sad but I’m happy that they went out on this weekend of all weekends because for me, last night, they were phenomenal.”
She also lauded the group’s version of the "Dreamgirls" number. “They sang for the first time a ballad last night. But tonight, the passion in their performance, the hunger to stay was so apparent,” she said.
