Bon Appetit includes Jollibee in fast food list

MANILA - American food magazine Bon Appetit has included the Philippine's very own Jollibee in its list of "fast food chains you should be watching right now."

In an article published on its website, Bon Appetit noted how Jollibee "has started popping up in the States," with store openings "often met with long lines of curiosity seekers and Asian expats."

"The menu is curious, a combo of typical burgers and chicken fingers with signature items like Palabok Fiesta Noodles (noodles in garlic sauce with pork, shrimp, parsley flakes and egg) and Spaghetti (touted as, 'The Meatiest, the Tastiest, the Spaghettiest!')," the article read.

Bon Appetit also mentioned that Jollibee branches in the US serve Spam sliders, an item that is not available in the Philippines.

Jollibee joins a handful of burger joints, chicken chains, fast food concepts serving sandwiches and "farm to fast food," and other foreign brands in Bon Appetit's list.

Some of these include In-N-Out Burger, Shake Shack, Chick-fil-A, Popeye's Louisiana Chicken, Chipotle, Paris Baguette, Nando's Peri Peri, Jamba Juice and Krispy Kreme.

In 2012, Travel + Leisure magazine dubbed Jollibee as one of the best fast food chains in the world.

The magazine recommended Jollibee's Spicy Chickenjoy, or fried chicken coated with chili powder.
