Randleman was one of UFC’s top fighters while the promotion was still in its infancy back in the late 1990s.
He bid for the vacant heavyweight title but lost to fellow legend Bas Rutten in 1999. He later defeated Pete Williams in UFC 23 to become the UFC heavyweight champion.
Randleman later competed in PRIDE fighting championships where he battled the likes of Fedor Emilianenko, Mirko Cro Cop, Kazushi Sakuraba, and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua.
One of his former competitors, former UFC champion Randy Couture, paid tribute to Randleman.
