MANILA – Dubai-based Filipino designer Michael Cinco used the humble banig or handwoven mat as inspiration for his newest collection which was featured at the Paris Fashion Week over the weekend.
Cinco is the first Filipino designer to showcase his creations at the Paris Fashion Week through the Asian Couture Federation.
Aside from the banig, Cinco also featured the popular Filipino weave pattern solihiya in his designs, as well as the familiar Barong Tagalog and terno.
One of the world’s most sought-after Filipino fashion designers, Cinco has designed dresses for both local celebrities and international stars.
