WhatsApp adds Snapchat-like disappearing status

MANILA - Messaging platform WhatsApp has rolled out in the Philippines its "status" feature, allowing users to share photos and videos that expire in 24 hours.

The disappearing posts were pioneered by Snapchat and has since been adopted by properties of social media giant Facebook.

Before WhatsApp, Facebook added a "stories" feature to its Instagram photo-sharing feature and "My Day" to Facebook messenger.

WhatsApp allows users to limit the audience of status posts. A camera icon was also added to the upper left side of the interface for easier posting.
