Pacers finalizing extension for coach McMillan

The Indiana Pacers are finalizing a multi-year extension for head coach Nate McMillan, according to multiple reports on Wednesday.

McMillan, 53, was entering the final guaranteed year of his deal but is now under contract through the 2020-21 season.

He helped the Pacers to a 48-34 record and their second consecutive postseason appearance last season, despite the trading away of five-time All-Star Paul George. Indiana lost in seven games to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the playoffs.

McMillan is 90-74 in two years at the helm of the Pacers after spending three years as an assistant for Indiana.

He also spent five years leading the then-Seattle SuperSonics (2000-05) and seven with the Portland Trail Blazers (2005-12). He is 568-526 in 1,094 career regular-season games, and 17-28 in the postseason.
