Global pop sensation Adele has separated from her husband, entrepreneur Simon Konecki, just 2 years after confirming their union, reports said.
Adele's representatives first confirmed the news Friday in a statement to The Associated Press. "Adele and her partner have separated. They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy," the statement said.
The English singer, known for heart-wrenching ballads such as "Someone Like You" and "Rolling in the Deep," had been in a long-term relationship with Konecki, a former financier who founded drop4drop, a charity that presses for global access to clean drinking water.
She confirmed their marriage at a concert in Brisbane, Australia in 2017 as she introduced "Someone Like You," her breakthrough 2011 hit written about the lingering pain of a breakup with a previous boyfriend.
"That feeling when you first fall for someone is the best feeling on earth," she said, according to a fan's video posted online.
"And I am addicted to that feeling. Obviously, I can't go through with those feelings because I'm married now," she added, to a smattering of cheers.
