Fil-Am teen alleged victim of hate crime in California; 3 suspects charged


Authorities have charged three suspects in an alleged attack on a Filipino-American teen from San Bruno, California in a reported hate crime. 

The unidentified 17-year old who is half Filipino, half African-American was reportedly visiting a 15-year old girl at her family's home last August 22, 2019.

The girl's biological father Luisandro Suares, her mother Haydee Arguello and stepfather Wilfredo Amaya arrived and found the teen boy in her bedroom.

They then allegedly physically assaulted him for about 30 minutes and threatened him with a deadly weapon.

The victim told authorities that the suspects yelled at him using racial slurs.

The three suspects have been booked into the San Mateo County Jail and have been charged with felony hate crime, kidnapping and assault with deadly weapon and criminal threats.
