42 days to X'mas: Greenhills unveils Christmas display

MANILA -- The much-awaited annual Christmas-on-Display (C.O.D.) of the Greenhills Shopping Center is now open for viewing.

A holiday tradition for almost 60 years, the Christmas display can be traced to the moving mannequin play performed at the facade of the C.O.D. Department Store in Cubao, Quezon City.

The Araneta Center department store closed in 2004 but the idea of a moving Christmas show was eventually adopted by the Greenhills Shopping Center, which is known for its Christmas tiangge.

This year's theme is fairy tales, featuring well-known princes and princesses.

The display's launch was held simultaneously with the opening of the Christmas night market.

SM Group confirms talks to acquire Ortigas Holdings

MANILA, Philippines -- The country's biggest mall owner and operator has confirmed that it is in talks to acquire a majority stake in the holding firm of the Ortigas family.

"We confirm that SM Group is in the process of discussion for the acquisition of majority interest in Ortigas Holdings Inc. The amount and details of the transaction are still under discussion and subject to finalization," Jose Sio, SM Investments Corp. finance officer, told the Philippine Stock Exchange.

The Ortigas & Co Ltd. Partnership own Greenhills Shopping Center, the financial district Ortigas Center, Tiendesitas, Frontera Verde, Valle Verde subdivisions, Greenmeadows, Greenhills subdivisions, Luntala, Circulo Verde, and Viridian in Greenhills.
