Shares of electric car manufacturer Tesla Motors Inc. opened nearly 12 percent above their initial public offering price as investors bet that electric cars would define the future of transportation. The electric car manufacturer will today be introduced on the Nasdaq stock exchange and is expected to raise $244 million, according to most media reports. It is holding the first initial public offering of a U.S. automaker in a half-century.
