Veteran 89-year-old White House correspondent, will retire with immediate effect following his offensive comments against Israel.
"Helen Thomas said Monday it is withdrawn with immediate effect," said a statement from Hearst Newspapers. "His decision came after controversial comments about Israel and the Palestinians were captured on video and circulated widely on the Internet.
Helen Thomas were indefensible comments and advice of the White House Correspondents Association strongly distanced himself from them. Many in our profession who have known Helen for years were saddened by the comments, which were particularly unfortunate in light of its role as a trail blazer in the White House beat.
