After finally cracking the code running Apple's newer mobile devices, developers have released jailbreaks for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2.
Tech site CNET reported the new jailbreaks are for devices running Apple's newer A5 processors, including the iPhone 4S and iPad 2.
It said a dream team of iOS hackers including the iPhone Dev Team, Chronic Dev Team and pod2G have been working to liberate iOS devices built around the more powerful A5 since the "corona untether" jailbreak for A4 devices running iOS5 was released in December.
But CNET also noted the site hosting the jailbreak, greenpois0n.com, was very difficult to access as of Friday.
A check of the site before 7 a.m. Saturday (Manila time) showed the site would time out.
For now, the jailbreak is only available for computers running Mac OS X. A version for computers running Microsoft's Windows will be available soon, according to a couple of the hackers.
Jailbreaking is a process of allowing devices running Apple's iOS to customize the device and access apps not found in the App Store, such as those available on Cydia.
