Oli Pettigrew looking to connect with more Filipino fans

MANILA, Philippines - Television host Oli Pettigrew hopes to bring his act to Manila very soon.

The Cash Cab Asia host was in town Tuesday night during the launch of the two new cable channels of Cignal Digital TV. Cignal introduced ‘Colours’, its new lifestyle channel and ‘Hyper,’ the sports channel available exclusively to its subscribers.

This was the first ever hosting gig in Manila for Oli.

“It feels awesome. I always imagined the Filipino audience to be very involved. When you ask them to make noise, they make noise. When you say something funny, they clap and cheer. It was nice to get in front of an audience with whom you have a connection via Facebook and Twitter. They’re the ones always sending me emails and all that stuff. It’s just nice to be here,” he said in an interview after the evening affair.

Oli has a big Filipino fan base online and this is one of the reasons he wants to set up here in the country.

He said that he has been going around in radio stations and doing photo shoots.

“I just want to make my presence in the Philippine more actual, not just on television. I want to physically be here in Manila. Hopefully, you’re going to be seeing more of me doing hosting. It has been a lot of fun to go out there and talk to people.”

There has been a good reception for his very unique game show on cable channel AXN and he’s waiting to do another season.

Oli drove around in a cab on the streets of Singapore for 12 hours and asked his passengers trivia questions and gave cash prizes to winners.

Besides taping for his game show, he was also doing hosting duties for other shows.

“All I can say is I appreciate how cab drivers work. It was 24 full days straight of being a cab driver. Ten hours inside the cab and it’s pretty exhausting,” he said of his experience.

“We’re hoping to come up with an ingenious plan to come and do a special episode here in the Philippines. Even if it’s not actually the Cash Cab, we just might think outside the box and do some big event. Let some people have some fun and let them experience the Cash Cab.”
