MANILA, Philippines -- A magnitude-4.9 earthquake shook Dinagat Island early Wednesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
The quake struck at 5:59 a.m., with its epicenter located eight kilometers northeast of Dinagat town.
The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 198 kilometers.
Phivolcs said the quake caused no damage and no aftershocks were expected.
