Facebook's new iPad app messes up timelines, tech site says

Facebook's new app for Apple's iOS devices may be faster and more responsive, but seems to have dropped the ball when it came to the social network's controversial Timeline feature.

An article posted Friday (Manila time) on the PC Magazine website said the new app failed to show the top of the Timeline on the iPad tablet.

"Version 5 of the Facebook iPad app, at launch appears to be missing the entire top piece of Timeline. When I spotted this, I checked a few of my friends' profiles, people I knew for certain had Timeline (I could verify it right on my computer screen). Sure enough, the iPad app had nothing to display for the tops of their pages," PC Mag's Jill Duffy wrote.

She advised users to wait a while before hitting the "update" button for Facebook - at least the version for iPad - so it can work on one more release.

"Otherwise, you won't see people's pages as advertised," she said.

Duffy said that when she checked her own page for the top of the Timeline, she found "Nothing."
She said a colleague who she asked to install the new app on his iPad got the same results. However, Duffy said the new app "does seem faster," with pages loading more quickly and photos looking better in the full screen mode.

Duffy also said the overall look and feel of the app is "a bit more angular, kind of like when iPhone 3GS turned into iPhone 4 and lost its soft sloping edges." — TJD, GMA News
