Pinoy moves on to top 24 of 'X-Factor' Australia

MANILA, Philippines -- Filipino-Australian Chris Cayzer is moving on to the next round of the Australian edition of reality singing competition "X-Factor."

The former Kapamilya talent was announced as among the top 24 contestants of "X-Factor Australia" during Wednesday's episode of the show.

Surviving three cuts of the Super Boot Camp rounds, Cayzer is now one of the six male contenders who will be mentored by American R & B performer Usher.

Other contestants, categorized as females, over-25s, and groups, will be mentored by American singer-songwriter Kesha, R & B singer Alicia Keys, and British boy group One Direction, respectively.

After the top 24 acts perform, the top 12 will be revealed. The last dozen acts will go on to perform during the live shows of the reality singing competition.

A former ABS-CBN talent, Cayzer now lives in Brisbane after spending six years in the Philippines, where he released two albums. His self-titled debut was produced by Nugen Music, a sub-label of Star Records.

He also appeared in concert variety show "ASAP" and had a role in the Star Cinema movie "Close to You."

The singer-actor said he returned to Australia to be close to his family.
