Iwa plays sex scandal victim as tribute to Halili

MANILA, Philippines – For her latest movie project, Filipino-Japanese actress Iwa Moto plays the role of a sex scandal victim which, she said, is her tribute to her fellow “Starstruck” alumna Katrina Halili.

In “Aberya,” an entry to this year’s Cinema One Originals film festival, Moto portrays the character of Eden, who was caught up in a sex video controversy.

Moto said she accepted the role for Halili, who was involved in a real-life sex scandal with former celebrity doctor Hayden Kho in 2009.

“Kaya ko tinanggap [‘yung role] kasi tribute ko kay Ate Katrina,” she told ABS-CBNnews.com at the sidelines of the Cinema One Originals press conference on Tuesday.

“Aberya” shows a “steamy and sinful Cebu” as it revolves around four individuals including Moto. The other three are Will Devaughn, Mercedes Cabral and Nicholas Varela.

“My character here is ‘sexually aggressive,’” Devaughn said of his newest role.

The movie was produced by the same team behind the award-winning “Ang Damgo ni Eleuteria.”
