Sarah says drama anthology different from 'MMK'

MANILA, Philippines – After hosting her own variety show for a year, singer-actress Sarah Geronimo said she is now ready to take on a new challenge in her career.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News Monday, Geronimo said she is looking forward to doing her newest drama anthology that ABS-CBN is developing for her.

“Exciting po itong magiging journey ko sa aking bagong proyekto na drama anthology. It’s a challenge for me bilang actress. Sana may mapakita tayo na bago, may ma-showcase tayo na bago sa televiewers natin,” she said.

Geronimo explained the stories that will be featured in her own drama anthology will be different from those shown on “Maalaala Mo Kaya” (MMK).

“Hindi naman pang ‘MMK.’ Siyempre iiwan po natin iyon sa ‘MMK’ pero importante na may kurot pa rin ang bawat storya na gagawin natin at hindi pa rin mawawala 'yung kung saan ako una nakilala na light and bubbly,” she said.

Without divulging much about the lineup of actors that she will be working with, Geronimo said she is excited to show to the viewers a “more matured Sarah” as she tries her hand on drama.

Aside from her newest drama anthology, Geronimo will also be joining the hit talent show “The Voice Philippines” as one of the mentors.

In addition to that, her fans will also be seeing her again on the big screen as she and actor John Lloyd Cruz reunite for their third movie together "It Takes A Man and A Woman."

And speaking of their movie, Geronimo shared that she and Cruz had a fun time in New York when they shot several scenes for the movie in the Big Apple.

“Sobra kaming nag-enjoy at the same time nakakapagod din kasi four days na straight ang shoot namin, hindi kami nakakapahinga kasi kailangan lubusin namin yung stay namin sa New York. Pero I'm sure po na malaki ang maitutulong niya sa love story ni Miggy (Cruz) and Laida (Geronimo),” she said.

Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards

Meanwhile, Geronimo is also grateful to be among the nominees in the 2013 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards (KCA).

“Yung pagiging nominated lang, enough na 'yun sa akin. Thankful ako to all the kids na kino-consider ako na maging part nung Kids Choice Awards. Thank you sa inspiration,” she said.

The Kapamilya actress-singer is nominated in the Favorite Asian Act category, along with Chinese singer-actor Han Gen, South Korean rapper Psy and Malaysian singer Shila Amzah.

In the official website of the 2013 KCA, Geronimo is described as the Philippines' "Popstar Princess."
