Facebook CEO to speak at premiere of Jose Vargas film

REDWOOD CITY, California -- The billionaire CEO of Facebook is set to jump into the national immigration debate next week by speaking at the premiere of a film about undocumented immigrants.

Mark Zuckerberg’s speech is slated for August 5th at the San Francisco screening of “Documented,” the critically acclaimed film by Filipino journalist Jose Antonio Vargas.

In June 2011, Vargas wrote a piece in The New York Times Magazine and revealed his status as an undocumented immigrant. The revelation promoted dialogue about the broken immigration system in the United States.

It’s the Facebook founder’s first time speaking publicly about immigration reform since he helped launch FWD dot US (http://www.fwd.us), a Silicon Valley lobbying group advocating for comprehensive immigration reform.
