Car theft motive in Kae Davantes case?

MANILA – Car theft could be the motive in the killing of 25-year-old advertising executive Kristelle 'Kae' Davantes, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo Jr. said on Wednesday.

Garbo said the car that Davantes was driving the night she went missing, a Toyota Altis (PIM-961), remains missing.

He also said initial findings showed that Davantes was not sexually molested and her clothes were intact when her body was found.

Garbo noted, however, that their investigation is still ongoing.

Davantes’ body was found under a bridge in Barangay Sabutan, Silang, Cavite on Saturday.

A handkerchief was stuffed in her mouth and she had three stab wounds in the neck. Her hands were tied with a car seatbelt.

Garbo said the victim's bag and wallet are also missing, and all that was left by the suspects was her engagement ring.

Davantes was engaged and had plans to marry in May 2014.

Garbo said police are interrogating Davantes’ companions before she went missing Friday night.

They are also investigating footage from closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras at the Bonifacio Global City, where Davantes was last seen.
