Rob Schneider to do comedy show in PH
MANILA -- American actor Rob Schneider is coming to the Philippines in late October to stage a one-night stand-up comedy show.
The 49-year-old comedian, who has proudly claimed to be part-Filipino, will perform at Solaire Resort and Casino in ParaƱaque City on October 28.
The show, titled "Rob Schneider: Live in Manila," marks the first time the Hollywood star will be performing in the Philippines, which is part of a world tour that includes over 50 performances scheduled until August 2014.
Before becoming a movie star with hits like the "Deuce Bigalow" series, "The Hot Chick" and "The Animal," Schneider performed as an opening act to comedians such as Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld.
He went on to join the long-running sketch comedy series "Saturday Night Live" for four seasons -- a stint that earned him Emmy and Peabody Award nominations.
Schneider's 2011 stand-up comedy world tour marked his return to live performances, after a decade of concentrating on his film career.
"I'm not the person I was 10 years ago – I couldn't make another 'Deuce Bigalow' if I wanted to," Schneider said. "I think people will enjoy the stand up. It's still funny. It's a different part of the same tree."
The actor is also known for his on-screen partnership with Adam Sandler, his co-star in blockbuster hits like "50 First Dates," "Grown Ups" and "You Don't Mess with the Zohan," among others.
